Springtime always brings to mind the concept of hope. We have just gone through a seemingly endless winter filled with bitter cold weather, several snowstorms and short days. Finally we are beginning to experience the hope of spring. In similar ways the women and men we are reaching out to have often experienced long seasons of darkness. It is our goal to remind them amidst the hardships they face there is hope, there is love, and they each have value.
In order to continue raising awareness of these important issues and build communities that honor women, we are taking things to the next level. We are excited to announce that She’s Somebody’s Daughter has officially been incorporated and we have filed the application with the IRS for federal tax exemption as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization!
As executive director, I have been working with an attorney and an advisory board during this process. Regarding donations, what this means is that all donations to She’s Somebody’s Daughter, received since February 11, 2014 our date of incorporation, will be retroactive and tax-deductible pending our status being approved. When the designation is granted, the full amount of any financial contributions will be deductible for federal income tax purposes. While we do not anticipate it, if our application is not approved, your contributions will not be considered tax-deductible.
Numerous volunteers, including a website professional, an accounting assistant, and a donor manager have all graciously been a part of this process. We're grateful for each of them and the ways they’ve been involved as we take things to the next level!
